Autumn Landscape - Antique Oil Painting

Large framed oil on canvas showing a view of a farm through an avenue of trees. The painting and frame are in excellent condition and signed and dated by the artist Emile Lecomte 1937 - Belgium School

Lecomte (1866 - 1937) studied at the Academy of Brussels. He was a student of Richard Viandier from who he took over a country-impressionist style. He was also active in Genk , which became an artist's place since 1840.
Lecomte followed classes at the Sint-Gillis Academy. He painted landscapes, gardens and parks in a powerful, spontaneous style, in a colourful palette, with a lot of attention to light effects. He also painted interiors, still life, figures and flowers, sometimes in a more realistic style.
Lecomte was also a long time director of the art magazine 'La Nervie' and was a member of the Brussels Circle of art and literature.
