Flowers - Antique Oil Painting

Framed oil on canvas by Pierre Cambier (inscribed on the rear) of flowers. The painting is colourful and generously painted. It is mounted in a gilt frame and canvas slip. It dates around 1950 - 1960.
Pierre Eugène Cambier was a French artist born in 1914 and died in 2001. He was a draftsman, painter and watercolourist. He brilliantly captured French cityscapes, waterways and landscapes in his watercolors. Cambier began exhibiting his works publicly at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris in 1948. His work was featured in the annual Salon d'Automne exhibition between 1953 and 1960 and later in the Galerie Urban in Paris, the Galerie O' Hara in London and the Sothman Gallery in Amsterdam. Cambier continued to work and paint in Paris, where he also taught drawing and illustration to budding artists. His masterful exhibition of light, color and Parisian architecture continues to attract collectors to this day. His works are exhibited in collections around the world.
