Rue des Fontenelles was originally founded in France by Caroline Mason in a small rural town on the edge of the Vienne River. Since moving the business back to the UK the passion for French antiques, paintings, interiors and decorative objects has continued.
After 10 years in France Caroline decided to come home to Dartmoor and now lives close to the idyllic Dartmoor town - Chagford - where the shop is based. The shop is always well stocked with a mixture of French antiques, art and decorative objects. All of our items are personally chosen, and Caroline still regularly visits France to find quality antique furniture, art and decorative objects.
We still believe that French antiques give a room an original twist but also work well with traditional English antiques in both classic and modern interiors. We love an eclectic mix of woods, colour and art. There is a good selection of oil paintings in stock - some by well recognised and listed artists - for most budgets. French and European paintings still offer value for money and are vibrant and decorative additions to a room. There is also a good selection of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings in stock. All of our items are displayed on our new improved website and can also be viewed on our dealer page at Selling Antiques.
We also stock a good range of classic and original reproduction lighting and decorative objects which work well with our antiques and also make excellent presents. These items can be seen and purchased on our website and in the shop. All of our antiques can be delivered across the UK and overseas, and many of our smaller items can be posted, including paintings.

The image shows a 19th Century French pastel and is typical of our range. The pastel, which is now sold is in excellent condition for its age.
