Return of the Fisherman - French School

Superb French marine by the artist Jean Keuleyan Lafon (Paris 1886 - St Raphael 1973)

Lafon was a Provencal painter of marines and landscapes and well known for his use of sunsets and moonlight in his paintings. He was born in Paris in 1886 and often painted under the pseudonym of Keuleyan Lafon. He exhibited at the Salon de Paris in 1875 and was a member of the Societe National de Beaux Arts from 1890. As an artist he is well listed and has many works in museums across France.

He was also a prisoner of war at Muncheberg during the First World War.

This oil on board is in excellent condition an is signed by the artist. It is mounted in a simple wooden Montparnasse frame.
