Dapple Grey Horse - Antique Oil Painting - 1862

Rare painting of a dapple grey horse by the well listed Belgium artist Albert Dillens (1844). The painting is signed by the artist and is dated 1862. It is mounted in an unusual handmade wooden frame, which has had some restoration.

This is a beautiful work by the artist, who is more well known for his coastal paintings and portraits of fishermen. Albert Dillens was born in Antwerp in 1844 and attended the Royal Academy of Brussels and Antwerp. He was commissioned to do portraits of King Leopold I and II and their wives. He as paintings in the Museum of Ostend and is listed in Benezit, Arto, Piron etc and has achieved high prices at auction.
