Superb 19th century French landscape - Ecole Barbizon by listed artist Alfred Didier.
The oil on panel is mounted in a good quality more recent frame and is signed by the artist and dated 1874. It shows a pleasant landscape in evening light.
Alfred Didier was a painter of battle scenes and landscapes. He was born in Paris on 19 October, 1840 and died in Tours on 18 October, 1892. He was a student of Barrial, exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1864 and 1879 and has paintings in the museums of Avignon, Nantes and Rouen.
