Signed oil on canvas showing two fishermen by a river with a village beyond. The painting is signed by the artist Alexandre Urbain (1875-1953) an is mounted in a good quality silver gilt frame with canvas slip.

Alexandre Urbain was a French painter, he was the pupil of Luc-Olivier Merson at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited to the Independents from 1903. Urbain became a member of the Salon d''Automne, of the Society of Engraving Painters and President of the Society of Independent Artists from 1940 to 1952.
