Impressionist Landscape - French School

Superb oil on wooden panel by the artist Fernand Stievenart (1862 - 1922) with another study on the rear of the painting.
This rare painting shows a lady on the path of Herlen. The Herlen is the river that passes Wissant, France and empties into the English Chanel. The avenue of poplars that are shown in the painting are still visible today.
The painting is mounted in a simple wooden Montparnasse Frame and is in excellent condition. There is another landscape on the rear which is a view of Mount Torque - in the same region.
The artist is well listed and has works in several Museums such as Boulogne-Sur-Mer, Douai, etc.
Fernand Joseph Jules Steivenart was born in Douai in 1862 and died in Belgium in 1922. He was a French landscape painter of the School of Wissant, French Opal coast.
In 1988 he appeared at the Paris Salon of French artists and in 1983 became a member of the French Artists Society and received much praise.
He lived for much of his time at Wissant with his wife where there house became the temple of the Wissantaise School.
