Bright oil on canvas by the Belgium artist Gerard Moortgat (1908-1992). The painting shows a view of steps in a park and is painted in a light and fresh style. The painting and frame are in good condition and was painted around 1940.

Gerard Moorgat was a post-impressionist artist who was known for his landscapes, interiors of churches and still lifes. He visited Italy and exhibited in Brussels in 1949 at the Galerie I. Brachot in Brussels. He also spent time in the South of France and Brittany. He was a Professor of decorative art at l'Athenee de Keerbergen and has works in the museum of Malines and Schaerbeek.
