STUDY OF A COW - BELGIUM SCHOOL

Superb study of a cow attributed to the listed Belgium artist Victor Abeloos (Brussels 1881-1965).

The painting is inscribed on the back and was one of a group of paintings that where mostly signed by the artist. The oil on canvas is mounted on a wooden chassis and in good condition. It is painted in a slightly impressionist style and has luminous tones.

Victor Abeloos began his career as an apprentice at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. He then went on to paint landscapes, nudes, still lifes, animals and seascapes. He had an individual exhibition at the Galerie Royale (1922) and at the gallery Le Salonnet (1925) both in Brussels. A number of his works can be found in the Charler Museum and at the Museum of Ixelles.

He is listed at auction with estimates reaching over four thousand euros.
