The Dance - 19th Century Watercolour Sketch

Stunning watercolour sketch by the artist Egron Sillif Lundgren (1815 - 1875). The drawing is mounted in a stunning gilt frame of the period and is in excellent condition.
Egron Sellif Lundgren (18 December 1815, in Stockholm – 16 December 1875 in Stockholm) was a Swedish watercolor painter. He studied at the Academy of Stockholm, and afterwards in Paris under Cogniet. He spent time in Italy from 1841 to 1849, devoting himself to watercolors. He then went to Spain and then to England, where he was commissioned by Queen Victoria to paint ceremonial pictures. He was sent to India during the war in 1858, the results of which expedition were a series of five hundred sketches, including numerous portraits. Lundgren was elected an associate member of the Royal Watercolour Society, London in February 1864 and later became a full member in 1867.
