Vase of Flowers - Antique Oil Painting

Still Life showing a vase of flowers signed by the artist Juliet Cambier (1879 - 1949).  The painting is signed, paited in a sift palette and sated by the artist and mounted in a quality silver gilt frame.  Dated 1939.

Born in Brussels (St Gilles) in 1879 and died in Brussels (Ixelles) in 1949, Cambier was a painter of figures, landscapes and was particularly well known for her flowers. Taught by her husband Louis-Gustave Cambier who was a painter and also a sculptor, she also studied under Portaels and in Paris under Signac.  Also studied under Édouard Vuillard at the Renson Academy in Paris.
Cambier was the niece of Octave Maus.  she took part in the 1914 Salon de la Libre Esthétique . During the First World War , she lived with her husband in Cagnes and met Auguste Renoir there . She exhibited studies of flowers at the Salon des Indépendants of 1927.

 Her works are exhibited in several museums.
