View of a Village - circa 1870

19th century landscape signed by the Belgium artist Charles Warland (1810 - 1891).

Charles Warland was known for his landscapes and forest paintings.
He participated in the 'Exposition Generale des Beaux Arts' in Brussels in 1884 and in the '35e Exposition' of Casio de Gand in 1892.
He is listed in Piron dictionary of Belgium artists and has achieved good prices at auction - 1500 euros.

This oil on canvas shows a view of a village over water and is in relatively good condition for its age. It has some cracks in the paint which does not detract from the quality of the work.
