Village in Winter - Antique Oil Painting

Oil on canvas showing a view of a village in winter signed George Lambillotte (Barnet, Great Britain, 1915 - Godinne, 1998). The canvas is unframed, is dated 1938 and inscribed on the rear "Vue de Godinne enneigée".

Lambillotte was a Belgium impressionist painter and draftsman who trained at the Academies of Namur and Brussels under Alfred Bastien and Frans Smeers. After spending some time in Brussels, he moved to Godinne in 1955. He took his inspiration from the Ardennes landscapes. and the Meuse but also painted portraits and still lifes. He used large brush stroke and a clear and bright palette. He was a member of the circle "L'Esquisse" in Namur and exhibited in 1934 and 1937.
